Is bamboo flooring really eco-friendly?
It depends on the Degree of Green(R) you are trying to achieve.
1. Bamboo is a fast growing grass
2. Bamboo flooring CAN be more durable than most domestic wood species.
3. All bamboo flooring is made in China
4. Chinese bamboo farmers are starting to clear cut thousands of acres of trees to plant bamboo.
Our opinion is, if you like the look of bamboo, then buy it. It makes a beautiful floor that is impossible to duplicate. However, if you are looking for the most eco-friendly and healthy flooring material, there are many options. Please contact your local GDC for more information.
