Water stains

AFM Acrylacq states it “has superior resistance to stains, marring and finger prints. AFM Polyureseal BP states “exceptional durability and abrasion resistance.” How do these products stand up if hot or cold drinks are put directly on a wood table. I know that people should use coasters, but don’t always do that. Would either or both of these be resistant to those types of stains and are they easily cleaned up if that should happen?

Joyce, potential water marks on any wood furniture is part of the down side to having nice wood furniture.  Whether you use the Acrylacq, Polyureseal BP or any other wood coating, water marks can occur from the smallest amount of moisture present.  Either a hot cup, a cold cup or even a small droplet of water can leave a spot.  Moisture can migrate through the coating and get trapped underneath, casusing an unsightly spot or ring.  There are several remidies to this, but would be the topic of another email ;)

In your specific case, neither of these products would be better than the other.  Just have them use what they are most comfortable with, then make sure they use coasters.  - Andrew P.
