What is the difference between wood floors and laminates like Pergo?

Wood flooring is either a solid wood or engineered wood. Engineered wood is an all wood floor that is glued together in layers so that it has structural integrity. Some engineered wood floors can be sanded and refinished up to 3 times, which is about the same as a solid wood floor. Laminate flooring, like Pergo, is plywood product with a top layer of a plastic laminate, similar to a countertop material.
